The Eierland lighthouse is located at the northernmost tip of the island of Texel. Six of the eight floors can be climbed every day from March to November and during the holidays. In the winter, the tower is open on Wednesdays and at the weekend. The bright red tower is particularly photogenic and is often seen in photos of Texel.
The tower was severely damaged during the Georgian uprising in April 1945. It was restored in 1948 by covering it with a new wall and placing a new superstructure. This changed the shape of the tower: it became much wider.
