The magical Lo Zingaro Nature Reserve in Sicily by Silva Wischeropp

I discovered this enchanting natural landscape, with its wonderful dwarf palms, lush meadows full of grasses and colourful wildflowers, right along the Tyrrhenian Sea during my Easter trip on 16 April 2019.

The deep red, sandy hiking trail leads for kilometres into the nature reserve and offers hiking and photography enthusiasts a true paradise for climbing and adventure.

The Lo Zingaro Nature Reserve is a protected area between the municipalities of Custonaci and San Vito Lo Capo in the beautiful province of Trapani, and is one of the most interesting natural attractions for both Italian and international tourists.
Surrounded by silence and nature, this place is a true gem on the north-west coast of Sicily, criss-crossed by numerous paths where time seems to stand still.
Monte Cofano is a mighty natural rock barrier between the beautiful bay of Castelluzzo to the east and the Gulf of Bonagia to the west. The reserve can be easily explored on foot – enjoy the magnificent, wild and unspoilt prairie landscape with its countless dwarf palms, whose shades of green contrast with the cobalt blue of the sea, whilst the sweet grass glistens in the warm Sicilian sun.
Experience this unique adventure amidst the colours and scents of the Mediterranean. Fantastic beaches with small lidos nestled by the wonderfully crystal-clear sea invite you to cool off. A perfect place offering pure rest and meditative relaxation.
