The literal highlight of the renovation is the roofing of the courtyard, the Open Square. The self-supporting structure, designed by architect Laurent Ney, consists of thousands of pieces of glass in a metal frame. The design is inspired by the compass lines of old sea charts. Each of the 868 nodes contains 4 LED lights (white, red, yellow and blue) which can be controlled individually. Thanks to this magnificent glass roof the courtyard gets a whole new function as a central square and as an event location.
