More object data The most important cardinal in Rome ordered this work as a gift for a French minister and his wife. Her first name, Catherine Félicité, prompted the subject. The Christian martyr Felicitas -here in yellow robe - had to watch the martyrdom of her seven sons before she herself was beheaded. Trevisani also painted himself, twice: he is the standing man on the left and the one looking at us from behind the statue on the right.
