The temple of Prambanan stands majestically under a brilliant Java sky, a testament to the architectural and spiritual genius of the 9th century. Its finely sculpted grey stones still seem to resonate with the chants and prayers dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma, the major deities of Hinduism. In the foreground, tropical plants with bright yellow leaves add a touch of life and light to this serene landscape.
The balance between the geometric rigour of the stone and the softness of the surrounding foliage reflects the profound harmony between man, nature and the divine, at the very heart of Javanese philosophy.
This temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, embodies the meeting of art, faith and history. Every detail of its architecture tells part of the story of the Ramayana, one of India's great epic texts, still celebrated here with traditional dances.
Daylight caresses the relief of the sanctuary, offering visitors an experience that is both spiritual and aesthetic, where time seems suspended.
