It's a cliché, but no less true, getting up early pays off. In this case, a visit to Brunssummerheide in the early morning. Knowledge of the terrain is then a plus, to know where to be for just that little bit of morning mist. When that little bit is more than you expected, you get to see magical scenes. People ask me how that can be, I was there too and didn't see it. My answer is invariably, you were too late. Try to be there before sunrise and let it happen. Enjoy it, because it will be over before you know it.
Enchanting every time in a different way.
Similarly with this photo, the mist rolled over the hilly terrain and kept wandering around in the valley. The sun created quite a contrast between light and dark, a challenge for the photographer. For me, a beautiful spectacle of sunlit stretches of heathland with a bowl of mist, interspersed with a thin layer further up in the shade.
