This work shows whimsically shaped ancient laurel trees in the mysterious cloud forest of Fanal on Madeira. The island of Madeira in the Atlantic Ocean is known for its dramatic landscapes of mountains, volcanoes and rocky coasts, in which you can do some fantastic hiking. However, one of the most photographically unique locations on Madeira is the mystical cloud forest of Fanal in the north-west of the island. It is a humid area with often dense fog. In the mist here, you can just feel like you've got lost in a fairy tale. Whimsically shaped laurel trees, covered in moss and ferns, speak of decades, maybe hundreds of years of exposure to weather and wind. They emerge from the mist like shadowy creatures, only to silently disappear a moment later. When the mist disappears, so do the mystique and fairy-tale atmosphere.
This is a soothing work, in which the colour green predominates. The whimsical trunks of the trees give the picture a certain dynamic, while the mist softens the image.
