About "The ruins of Machu Picchu, a masterpiece of Inca engineering between heaven and earth"

by Franck Perron

About the artwork

The ruins of Machu Picchu rise almost 2,430 metres above sea level in the Andes mountains, a sacred and spectacular site that embodies the ingenuity and artistry of the Inca civilisation. The city is made up of around a hundred stone structures, from temples and residences to tiered agricultural terraces. Machu Picchu is organised around a central square, where the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Three Windows, among the most famous monuments, seem to tell the story of a people deeply linked to nature and the stars. The mystery of the city also lies in its role, still debated by archaeologists: was it a place of pilgrimage, a royal residence or a religious centre? This exceptional site offers unique panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the sacred valley, immersing visitors in an extraordinary universe. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Machu Picchu is a marvel to behold if you want to understand and appreciate the legacy left by the Inca Empire.
