We are on our way by boat from Lauwersoog to Rottumeroog. It is a windless day, slightly hazy on the horizon. A vast landscape consisting of nothing but water and sky.
And then all of a sudden, a little dot in the distance approaches us. It turns out to be a fishing boat. A boat full of nets and a huge flock of birds following it. Apparently there is a lot to catch.
The fishing boat itself is a motley collection of mostly primary colours. Both the boat itself and the clothing of the crew.
And yet it feels like something very special. How long have we humans been fishing and how long will we continue to do this intensive work. Won't shrimps soon be farmed or come from some kind of factories. That alone makes it a picture to enjoy.
Out of sight are poles in the water with the text that we are passing a defence shooting range. Fortunately, our skipper has a permit to sail here and there are no exercises today. But the contrast between the shooting range and the peaceful fishing boat could hardly be greater.
Should you buy this work; I hope you can enjoy it for a long time. Thanks in advance!

Hans de Waay - enjoying landscapes & the city
Landscapes are beautiful to hang on the wall. You get out. Lovely to look at and dream away.
I try to capture the most beautiful moments. Often on the edges of the day. In the morning or in the middle of the night.
Thank..
