This is the sluice house on IJburg in Amsterdam early in the evening. IJburg is a district on the east side of Amsterdam and located in the IJmeer, it consists of 6 islands. Designed by Bjärke Ingels, the sluice house is an unusual apartment building and is one of the city's new eye-catchers. It falls in the list with the Eye Film Museum, NEMO and the Pontsteiger building. It was early on a winter evening that I was there, the wind was blowing a bit and to take this photo I had to stand on wooden scaffolding in the water. Since I needed a long shutter speed, I was afraid it might be a bit too turbulent weather and had to come back another time. But suddenly the wind died down a bit and I hit my stride.
