About the artwork

While photographing butterflies and dragonflies, I came across this beautiful work of art. Then looked up what it is and here is the fact about............the spitbug........

If you see this foam blob you wouldn't think it, but inside that foam is the larva (nymph) of the insect foam cicada, also known as the spitbug.

The nymph attaches itself to a stem or leaf with its stinging proboscis. The pressure of the sap flow forces plant juices into its body. The excess fluid is immediately excreted past the anus. It mixes with a waxy substance secreted by the glands at the base of its abdomen. Using a special breathing tube, the nymph blows air into the mixture, creating bubbles and the characteristic foam nest.

The foam around the larva protects it from dehydration by sun and wind, and makes it very unattractive to hungry spiders, birds and other hunters. In about'fifty days, the larva grows into an adult in the foam party.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
