On 15 September 2025, storm Amy swept along the coast of Zeeland, and I was standing by the iconic Delta Works at Neeltje Jans, on the side of Westenschouwen on Schouwen-Duiveland. The wind howled, the waves pounded against the boulders, and the sky unfurled like a painting of soft shades of orange, yellow and purple. This was nature in its purest form.
Every 4-5 shots, I had to desalt my lens to maintain sharpness - the salt was everywhere! Yet I felt completely in my element. Alone, with no people around me, I enjoyed the silence between the gusts of wind and the roar of the sea.
Although my body forced me to rest for a week afterwards, the smile prevails when I think back to this evening.
This photo is more than an image; it is a reminder of resilience, of beauty in the midst of storm, and of the feeling of freedom. Perfect as a wall decoration for those who want to bring the power of nature and colour into their homes.
My passion is to capture the beauty of the landscape through photography. In recent years, I have visited several coastlines, as that is where my passion lies above all else.
