The vast highlands of Jotunheimen

by LinaTea UmbraVisuals

A plateau characterised by low vegetation and gentle undulations forms the subject of this landscape photograph taken in Jotunheimen, the traditional land of the giants. The picture was taken on a changeable day during our road trip in a campervan with our dog. The focus is on the varied ground cover of small patches of moss, heather and dark shrubs in the foreground. Behind them, rolling ridges rise to form dark mountain ranges, some of whose peaks are shrouded in a thick veil of cloud. Changing light conditions create areas of light and shade across the open landscape. The colour palette ranges from olive green to rust red and muted rock grey. When displayed on a wall, this photograph exudes a grounded, calming effect. It fits perfectly into modern living rooms or hallways furnished with simple, natural pieces. The image captures the characteristic features of this Scandinavian mountain landscape off the beaten track.
