About the artwork
From the heights of a hilltop village, the ochre and orange roofs fit together like ancient jigsaw puzzles, bathed in light. The Mediterranean Sea stretches on forever, its intense blue almost unreal, dotted with peaceful sailing boats that seem to float between sky and salt. Your gaze wanders along a small winding path clinging to the cliff, like a silver thread linking the rock to the open sea.
Vigorous cacti rise up in the foreground, vertical silhouettes between light and shadow, anchored in the whiteness of the sun-warmed soil. The cypresses, silent guardians, add their verticality to the scene, while the harmony of the geometric shapes - almost cubist - gives the whole a vibrant, lively rhythm.
A hymn to the South, to the sea, to mineral warmth... This painting evokes both the calm of an eternal summer and the vitality of a landscape sculpted by time.
