About ‘Transition’ by peter reinders

What appeals to me in this picture is the feeling of being on the road without seeing exactly where to go. I recognise that moment when you are going somewhere, but your mind is already one step ahead. The people are not important as individuals, they are part of the movement. The image feels calm and at the same time a bit elusive, as if the moment has already passed while you are looking at it. For me, this photo is not about the place itself, but about the idea of moving on, even if you can't yet see the end point sharply.
The photo has a strong, minimalist look. The deliberately extreme light level and overexposure create an almost abstract image in which shapes are more important than details. The symmetry of the stairs and bridge works well and draws the eye to the centre. The motion blur of the people adds dynamism but also makes the image distant. Technically, the picture is bold: not "correctly" exposed, but clearly deliberately chosen.
