Who doesn't know them, the piles of tree trunks at the edge of the forest. Neatly arranged and cut to length. Stripped of all side branches, ready for transport to the sawmill.
I came across these piles in spring 2025 near the Schapenmeer in Vorden. These trees had been infested by the typesetter and were pre-emptively cut down to protect the rest.
This freed up nice space for the return of the heathland soil.
