In the Waasland, on the territory of Kruibeke, Basel and Rupelmonde, lies Flanders' largest flood area: the Polders of Kruibeke. On its own, this controlled flood area makes Flanders five times safer. 600 hectares of these polders have been transformed into a unique nature reserve: a walhalla for walkers and cyclists and a boost for the local hospitality industry and entrepreneurs.
