A close up watercolor portrait of a Tuareg woman wrapped in a warm hooded scarf. Sunlit ochres and soft reds flow into cooler violets along the hood while transparent washes reveal the paper grain. Broad confident brushstrokes frame the face and fine lines define lashes the nose bridge and the soft contour of the lips. Gentle drips at the lower edge add motion without crowding the features so the steady gaze remains the focal point.
The work was built in layered sessions. I blocked large shapes wet on wet to let color travel through the fabric then returned with selective glazing and dry brush to refine highlights and edge transitions. Tiny reserved whites hold sparkle in the eyes and along the lower lip preserving watercolor luminosity and a clean read from a distance.
The atmosphere is calm and resolute. The mix of warm desert tones and cool shadows gives strong wall readability and delicate texture up close making an elegant addition to contemporary interiors and studio spaces.
