This beautiful, swaying tree grows just here in the Netherlands.
Soft yellow flowers and an exceptional shape of the soft green leaves. The top of the leaf is not pointed but horizontal and subdued. The leaves are so loose and graceful that they seem to fly. Like butterflies.
No wonder Jan Wolkers was so fond of this tree. I am told that when he painted his famous work 'Yellow' he was inspired by the gigantic Liriodendron in the Hortus Botanicus in Leiden. You can see the tree right next to the entrance.
