About the artwork

Recently attended a workshop of steel wool slinging.
This is something that was still on my wish list.

You take a stirring rod and put a few tufts of steel wool in it.
Tie a piece of string to the handle of the stirring rod, light the steel wool and let it whirl around.
Put the camera on a tripod, focus manually beforehand and set the shutter speed between 10 and 15 sec.

As the end of the workshop approached, the more spectacular it became.

Under a viaduct of highway A2 was a beautiful setting with walls full of beautiful graffiti and a disused railroad line.
A sense of desolation, which you often see in urbex photos (urban exploration).

The bright light is from shavings magnesium with temperatures around 1300 C.
The orange sparks is the steel wool splashing away, which is around 800 C.

Because of the low viewpoint you get a beautiful depth of field and every detail of the photo wants to look at.
