About ‘Two travellers under the moon in the desert, digital collage’ by Lina van Oers

Two people stand a long way apart in a vast landscape. An almost perfectly round, pale moon hangs above them. Or perhaps it is the sun. It is precisely this ambiguity that makes the image interesting.

The figures appear to be looking at one another, yet an enormous space remains between them. This lends the image a narrative quality. Are they on their way towards one another? Have they just parted ways? Or do they simply happen to share the same landscape? The warm rust-brown hills and the dry grass give the work an earthy atmosphere. At the same time, the enormous circle of light above makes the setting seem almost otherworldly.

The abundance of empty space makes this a striking print for a calm, modern interior. The work has enough character to stand on its own and really comes into its own, particularly in a larger format.
