The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is a medium-heavy transport aircraft. It is mainly intended for transporting military personnel and equipment. It is also used for humanitarian aid flights. Thanks to a rear-loading ramp, the Hercules does not rely on special loading facilities at airports.
This picture was taken on 20 September 2025 during the commemoration of Operation Market Garden on the Ginkelse Heide.
The aircraft in the picture has so-called invasion stripes. During World War II, black and white bands were painted on the fuselage and wings of Allied aircraft to prevent them from being shot down by their own troops during the invasion of Normandy and the months that followed.
