About "Ultra wide panorama on the Lower Rhine near Arnhem"

About the artwork

From the Uiterwaardenpark Meinerswijk Arnhem wide panorama on the Nederrijn and the Spoorbrug Oosterbeek.
This beautiful nature reserve is located near the center of Arnhem and is a wonderful place for walking or cycling, chances are you see a lot of animals. There are Galloway cattle and Konik horses and it is a nice place to spot birds.
The Lower Rhine is the branch of the Rhine from Angeren, the continuation of the Pannerdensch Kanaal. At the Kandia pumping station, on the other side of Angeren, the Old Rhine enters the area. Before the construction of the Pannerdensch Canal, this was the main course of the Lower Rhine. From Wijk bij Duurstede the main stream is called Lek and the old stream Kromme Rijn.
The current railway bridge is the fifth version. The first railway bridge was built in 1879 and had several arches and an extra pillar in the river. On 10 May 1940 the bridge was blown up during the German attack, and on 19 November the destroyed bridge was replaced by a bridge from Zaltbommel. Because this bridge only consisted of one track, signal boxes arose on both sides of the bridge from which the train traffic was controlled. During the Battle of Arnhem the bridge was destroyed again, and then replaced by a temporary bridge from Dordrecht. In 1952 it was replaced by the final bridge as it still stands today.
