An umbrella or rainscreen is an utensil that has the function of protecting a person from the rain. An umbrella consists of a stick with a handle and a screen at right angles to it. The screen consists of a number of ribs over which a water-repellent material is stretched. The screen is held up and tensioned by each baleen being held off the stick with a crossbar (the tensioner). Umbrellas are usually collapsible and sometimes further foldable.
