Early Spring and sunset is approaching in Umbria, Italy. The sun is bathing the landscape with a gorgeous golden glow that makes the colours look almost autumnal. It is olive tree pruning season, a haze of smoke hangs in the air from the bonfires burning the cuttings. As we look down this gorgeous scene, we can see far into the distance, past olive trees and woodland to the hills beyond. In the foreground, framing the picture, is an almond tree, breaking into blossom. This is an impressionism style work based on my original photograph that I have enhanced digitally. As with a lot of impressionist works, it is best viewed at a distance, in order to get the full effect of this Umbrian spring landscape.
