My photography is about atmosphere, place and everyday moments. I like to capture cities as they truly feel: not only the well-known landmarks, but especially the small scenes surrounding them. A musician in a New York subway station, a cook in a tiny Tokyo restaurant, a quiet alley in Venice, or someone walking through Golden Gai after a long day at work.
In my images, I look for contrasts between movement and stillness, tradition and modern life, light and shadow.…
