this evening view of Maassluis harbour, the city comes to rest and life. With its historic buildings and silhouettes, the Schanseiland forms a timeless backdrop, while the soft evening light illuminates the structures with a warm glow.
The reflections in the water reinforce the sense of stillness, and at the same time of movement: this is not a static image, but a snapshot of a city living between past and present.
This photo is part of the Urban Layers Maassluis series, in which history, architecture and atmosphere come together in images with depth. The light, composition and use of colour expose the soul of the city, layer by layer.
