About ‘Utrecht in reflection’ by JPWFoto

The canals in Utrecht’s city centre remain a lovely setting to explore. Especially in the early morning, when the city is just beginning to come to life. In the narrow streets, the first rays of sunshine caress the tops of the old façades. Reflected in the water, this creates a remarkable spectacle of light and shadow.
The colours, too, begin to come to life and more and more details become visible. This is also the case here on the Oude Gracht.
The tranquillity of the smooth water’s surface, the vivid, colourful reflection, the surroundings not yet affected by the usual hustle and bustle of a big city. For me, this is where the true essence of this great city really comes into its own.
Capturing a detail of Utrecht in this way creates a unique graphic representation. Shaped entirely by the elements present: the old, characteristic buildings, the beautiful canals and the early morning light.
