The Varnebroekermolentje was built around the middle of the 19th century to drain the Varnebroek polder. In 1974, it was moved to its current location in the middle of the farmlands west of Heiloo.
I spotted this mill in the distance during a walk in the adjacent Heilooërbos and put it on my bucket list of locations to photograph. Going back a few days later towards sunset, but unfortunately clouds were drifting into the country. On the spot, I decided to give these clouds extra emphasis by using a slow shutter speed, and turned the lack of sunlight into a black-and-white photo.
This photo gives a rural feel.
