The Jesuit Convent was built in 1893-1895 to plans by H.J. Hürth as Collegium Maximum or Ignatius College for German Jesuits. A wing and a library were added in 1911. The chapel was demolished in 1943 and the building stood empty from 1948 to 1961.
In 1962-1964, a new, modern chapel was built on the site of the old chapel with German money (as compensation for the demolition of the old chapel during the occupation period).
After the war, from 1964-1985, the Jesuit convent was occupied by the Franciscan Sisters of St Joseph and was used as a home for the elderly, called 'Huize Boslust'. Around 1984, low-rise houses for the predominantly elderly sisters were built in the adjoining garden.
In 1985, the sisters moved into the new building next to the convent and the old convent has been empty ever since.
