About ‘View from Barnard Castle on 35mm film’ by Rosenbrand Image Works

The view from the Round Tower at Barnard Castle, captured in the late 1990s on black-and-white Ilford HP5 Plus 35mm film. The photograph depicts the characteristic landscape surrounding the historic castle, with a tranquil and almost timeless atmosphere that perfectly complements the analogue medium on which the image was captured.

The grain of the HP5 Plus film gives the image a soft, documentary feel reminiscent of classic travel photography. The use of black and white shifts the focus to light, contrast and texture, bringing the ancient stones, the landscape and the sky into sharper relief. The image feels as though it comes from a personal travel archive from a time when photography was still a conscious and tangible experience.

Barnard Castle itself carries a rich history, but this photograph focuses primarily on the sensation of looking, pausing and experiencing the surroundings. At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
