This is the kind of place where adventure and dream come together. On the island of Kalsoy, you will find this iconic Kallur lighthouse, high atop the cliffs of the Faroe Islands. When I took this photo, the wind was blowing hard and clouds were rolling across the landscape, which only added to the dramatic atmosphere. What is immediately striking is how small the red lighthouse seems in this imposing, green mountain landscape - a symbol of holding on in the middle of pristine nature.
My inspiration for this photo was the hike towards it: a hike over narrow paths, along steep precipices, with breathtaking views of sea and islands every time. I wanted to capture the feeling of being on the edge of the world in this image. The contrasts of bright green grass, rugged rocks and the cool, Scandinavian light complete the picture.
This work brings a good dose of adventure to any interior. It fits perfectly in a modern, cool or bright home and is a real eye-catcher for anyone who loves travelling, rugged landscapes and the magic of the north. Every time you look at it, you dream away to the end of the world.
