In Amsterdam, he was honoured with a statue. For the festive unveiling, the Park Hall was decorated with large paintings of cities where he would have worked. This is the sketch for the canvas Rembrandt in The Hague. In the distance is the city with the tower of the Great or St James' Church. Only later did it emerge that Rembrandt had never worked in The Hague.
