This photo shows one of the Faroe Islands' most iconic spots: the view from Trælanípa of the famous 'floating' lake Sørvágsvatn. From this high cliff, it looks as if the lake is suspended above the ocean, with the perpendicular cliffs diving down dozens of metres below. What always stays with me here is the crazy perspective and the power of the landscape: rugged, pristine and different every minute because of the changing light and fast-moving clouds.
The hike to Trælanípa is an adventure in itself: you walk along rocky paths, past deep chasms, while slowly seeing the ocean and surrounding islands getting closer. My inspiration was to capture the sense of freedom and wonder of this place - the magical interplay of water, rocks and sky. This image invites you to keep looking and discover new details each time.
