White pencil on black paper. Drawing on black paper is a challenge. You just draw the light, in fact like in reality. I think it's appropriate for a historic picture like this. From behind the nose guard the Viking looks vigilant, but also relaxed at ... well, what is he actually looking at?

I came this close to not being involved in photography. My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic, with the biggest parallax error you could wish for! So I always had pictures of people without heads. I used these cassettes with 12 or 24 photos, black and white (that was cheaper than colour!). I was advised to be economical with this material. I only took a picture if I was sure it was worth it.
