The De' Medici family (or Dei Medici) was a powerful and influential family, which played a leading role in the field of art in Florence as the founder of international banking during the 15th century. The members of the De' Medici family had an influence on art and architecture, especially in Florence.
Here is a panorama with a fountain or water basin in the villa of the stone-rich family. The view over the city of Florence in Tuscany gives a beautiful shade between light and dark. In the background stands the cathedral basilica of Florence, the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore or simply the Duomo. It is the fourth largest cathedral in Europe.
Maurice Denis (Granville, 25 November 1870 - Paris, 13 November 1943) was a French painter. He was one of the founders of the group Les Nabis. In formalism, Denis' statement is often quoted: 'Remember that before a painting is a warhorse, a female nude or a genre scene, it is first and foremost a flat surface with colours in a certain order'.
