Van Gogh paints branches with leaves in various shades of green and blue of the Acacia from a garden in France in the latter days of his career. This is one of his lesser-known paintings.
In ancient times, acacia was considered a beautiful plant because of its healing properties and was considered highly effective in warding off misfortune.
The son of doctor, Paul- Louis Gachet is the only person who saw Van Gogh create this Flowering Acacia in their garden.
He watched as Van Gogh, with his head resting on his neck, applied a few touches of colour to the small canvas, then with his eyes half-closed, watched the flowers above him, along with the sky.
Vincent Willem van Gogh (Zundert, 30 March 1853 - Auvers-sur-Oise, 29 July 1890) was a Dutch painter. His work falls under post-impressionism. Van Gogh is considered one of the greatest painters of the 19th century.
In March 1886, Van Gogh left Belgium. He went to live with Theo in Paris, 54 Rue Lepic in Montmartre, where he had his own studio.
