Vintage Botanical Chart of a Giant Flower

by Arturo Vivó

A giant flowering plant stands beside an Art Deco skyscraper in this vintage-style botanical chart. Set against an aged, sepia-toned background, the illustration takes the familiar appearance of a natural history plate and turns it into an imaginary botanical discovery.

A thick central stem supports broad leaves, smaller buds and a large, thistle-like flower. Fine lines, delicate shading and handwritten-style annotations give the plant the appearance of a carefully documented specimen. The slender skyscraper beside it provides a striking sense of scale, transforming an ordinary botanical study into something quietly surreal.

Muted greens, warm browns and soft ochres complement the parchment-like background. The contrast between organic growth and architectural geometry is the central feature of the composition, bringing nature and the city together in an unexpected way.

This artwork combines botanical illustration, vintage scientific imagery and playful fantasy. Its detailed composition rewards a closer look, while its restrained colors make it suitable for a study, reading corner or office. It offers an unusual take on floral wall art for anyone drawn to old illustrated books and imaginary worlds.
