A view of the Julian Alps as seen from the Vršič mountain pass. Vršič Pass at 1611 metres is the highest mountain pass in Slovenia. And runs from Kranjska Gora to Trenta.
I walked up this pass as part of the Alpe Adria trail. A long-distance hiking trail of over 800km. This image was taken during stage 23.
In this image, you can see the view from the top of Mount Vršič, which is just above the pass. In the foreground, you can see green conifers covering the mountain slopes. On the right, you can see another section of road R206, which you take along this scenic route.
The centre of this image is filled by the imposing mountains, part of the Julian Alps. The cloud cover just broke open and has a nice alternation of dark rain clouds and blue sky.
