The Waalkade is a street and quay in the Lower Town of the Dutch city of Nijmegen situated on the river Waal.
The quay has existed under its current name since around 1900. Before this, the area was called Aan 't Water, Op den Werf or Aan den Waal and formed an active part of the old city of Nijmegen.
Also in the 20th century it was long used for industry and shipping. Several factories were established and there was a power plant, among other things. In the 1980s, the area was reconstructed into a quay that mainly had a recreational function. The Waalkade runs between the Waalbrug and the Spoorbrug. (Source: Wikipedia)
