"Walk at the Edge of the Day"
Being together, captured in light and colour
A softly coloured scene on the coast, in which a group of walkers - families, lovers, children - are carried away by the calm of the surf. The setting sun paints pastel shades in the sky, while the sea and beach are rendered in a rhythmic play of texture and light.
Editing in Photoshop and the hand-painted touch of Corel Painter X3 give this photo a vibrant, impressionistic feel. The brush-like blurs and warm areas of colour evoke a sense of nostalgia and connection. You can almost hear the waves and children's laughter in the wind.
Material advice
Canvas. or Art frame. Enhances the painterly style of this work; gives a warm tactile effect.
Aluminium. Sleek and modern effect, without gloss; makes the colours flatteringly bright.
Size advice:
A medium to large format (e.g. 80×120 cm) enhances the spaciousness of the beach and depth in the composition. The work looks best with sufficient white space or above a neutral sofa -
