Amsterdam Central Station is the central station of the Dutch capital Amsterdam. It was built between 1881 and 1889, designed by P.J.H. Cuypers, A.L. van Gendt (station building) and L.J. Eijmer (station canopy). The station has six platforms that can be reached via three passageways under the 15 tracks (including 11 platform tracks). Amsterdam Centraal station welcomes around 160,000 passengers every day, making it the second busiest station in the Netherlands after Utrecht Centraal. Passengers can use trains, subways, trams, buses and ferries. The station is located on Station Island, which is moored in the IJ.
