When I first saw them, I was almost overwhelmed by their beauty. The blue wings and teal feathers are masterful. The greeting is preceded by a rattling sound according to the ceremonial of dabblers. The female was continuously spoilt with prey dragged by the male to boost her confidence. The strong wind did not make it any easier. This behaviour leads to only one thing, mating. After all, the most important thing in the bird world is to produce offspring.... In the background the Spanish countryside with the occasional hen harrier passing by. It just doesn't get any better in Extremadura.
