The Geldersekade forms the eastern border of the Red Light District, the famous prostitution area in Amsterdam. The Geldersekade has a mix of small shops and houses. This work shows one of these houses. The old-fashioned street lamp and the lantern on the house, together with the stone staircase and the antique green doors, give a warm feeling. The nostalgic feeling and the cheerfulness which the image evokes is reinforced by the composition of flower pots arranged on the left and right.
