About ‘Waves of Steel’ by Peter Bulcke

This work shows flowing, metallic waves that appear to be intertwined. The shades of blue, grey and white create a sense of depth and movement, with touches of orange here and there to provide contrast. The undulating lines and layers give the work a dynamic feel, as if the steel itself is coming to life.

The inspiration came from the strength and elegance of steel structures in modern architecture. I was fascinated by how something as hard and cold as steel can yet appear so fluid and graceful when shaped in a certain way.
A visit to a modern city full of skyscrapers and steel artworks gave me the creative spark for this piece.

The piece exudes strength and elegance, with an industrial twist. It is both robust and graceful, a combination I find fascinating.

It symbolises the harmony between human creativity and technical innovation. It shows how the human mind can find and create beauty in even the most unexpected materials.

Digital techniques have been applied to create the metallic texture. This technique makes the steel sheets appear to slide over each other.

It adds a modern, industrial feel and can be a powerful eye-catcher. This artwork is ideal for spaces that want a modern yet warm look, such as lofts and industrial flats.
