On historical industrial monuments, there are often wonderful detail shots that, by selecting it as an image from the whole, take on a life of their own. This piece of construction, part or facet of the skeleton of a building, degenerates into a new image, a new life, by selecting it and applying image reduction.
This image was made in the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, which is on the site the former Thyssen-Eisenwerk steelworks, where until 1985 many tonnes of iron ore were processed daily and where the blast furnaces ran 24 hours a day, with temperatures exceeding 2,000 degrees.
The Landschaftspark is a special and impressive place where industrial heritage, nature and forms of outdoor recreation come together.
It offers photographers plenty of opportunities to create uncommon images such as estrangements, or detail photography like the attached Black and White elaboration. The same print is also available in its original colour.
