About ‘Weimar - Goethe-Schiller monument’ by Thomas Bugdoll

The monument, inaugurated in 1857, stands in front of the German National Theatre on Theatre Square in Weimar. It was created by the Dresden sculptor Ernst Rietschel.

The material for the bronze monument, which depicts the two poet princes Goethe and Schiller, came from melted-down Turkish cannons provided by the Bavarian King…
