Lions usually have a hazel or golden brown colour for their fur. However, in the case of white lions, the fur is either completely white or a very pale version of the usual hazel fur. The colour of the coat can range from blonde to almost white. This colouration is inherited from the parents but is a recessive trait, meaning that a hazel coloured lion is more likely to be born from hazel coloured lions than that of a white lion.
