The Gelobtbach is a tributary of the Elbe.
In the section where the photo was taken, the stream forms the border between the Czech Republic and Germany.
Over many thousands of years, the small river has cut deep into the rocks of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
This is how the Gelobtbach valley was formed. The valley is wild, damp and very cool.
Only a little sunlight warms this section.
Mosses and ferns cover the rocks and the water finds its way through the maze of rocks.
