The Fraeylema Mill on a sunny winter's day with a good layer of snow.
The Fraeylema Mill was built in 1786 to drain the 'Groote Oosterpolder', commissioned by Hendrik de Sandra Veldtman, lord of Slochteren and resident of the Fraeylema Manor.
The storm of 9/10 November 1969 blew over the entire mill and broke the cast-iron upper axle. As part of the land consolidation Slochteren, a restoration plan for the mill was carried out and the Fraeylema mill could be put back into use for pumping in 1974.
